Be Consistent

Be Consistent

Good Morning,

I read an article the other day Develop A Running Strategy from Runner’s World.com which of course is applied to the runner’s but I as I read this article I really thought we could take the steps and apply them to everyday fitness.  They have 5 headings in the article:

  1. do the minimal training needed for optimal results:
  2. be consistant
  3. balance hard efforts with rest
  4. expect peaks and plateaus
  5. practice & patience

Please read the article and see what you can take and apply to your fitness routine.

Have a great day!

Cheers, Angie

Turning fat into muscle: is it possible?

Posted by energygroup on July 17, 2009

In my last posing I wrote about Losing Inches, Not pounds and thought today’s posting would be helpful to describe what your total body weight is composed off.

Your totaly body weight is broken into 2 components:

  1.  lean body tissue
  2.  body fat

Lean body fat  is composed of bones, muscle, and organs and body fat is very simple – body fat.  Note: not all body fat is bad, our bodies need some body fat to function.  We never want to go below 15% body fat and this is a the very low end.

When I wrote in my last posting about losing inches, not pounds, this means you are increasing your lean body tissue and decreasing your total body fat.

A phrase I sometime hear people saying is “I turned fat into muscles”, this isn’t correct.  You are either increasing one and decreasing the other.  One does not turn into the other!

Do you have more body fat or lean body tissue?

Have a great day!

Cheers, Angie

Losing inches, Not pounds

Posted by energygroup on July 15, 2009

Losing inches, not pounds

Losing inches, not pounds

Recently, I had the question: Why am I losing inches and not pounds?  Here’s the answer:

Your body is losing body fat and gaining muscle mass, which is denser and takes up less space.  Losing inches around the body is a good thing and eventually you’ll start to lose pounds but you may need to be patient. Normally you’ll see changes (loses in both inches and pounds) in about 8 weeks of regular strength training.   In addition to burning calories during your strength training session, you’ll continue to burns calories after your working out!  For the muscles to repair, grow and live the muscles require more calories from the body and therefore  need to burn more calories.  How great is that!

How many times are you strength training each week?   Your max should be 3 times per week.

Have a great day!

Cheers, Angie
